Message from the Chairman

“Gambaranai Keiei” is the equivalent of what people now describe as “sustainability management”
In recent years, ESG has become a key management issue around the world, and companies are required to engage in sustainability management. I think our management policy of “Gambaranai Keiei” is the equivalent of what people now describe as “sustainability management.”
Management is like “ekiden” (road relay) an endless relay race. Rather than straining ourselves to generate profits only for a defined period of time, we should proceed and grow slowly but steadily while we are in charge before passing the baton to the next generation. We should also strive to make great contributions to society through our business activities by expanding “harmony with, and circles of” our stakeholders—namely, our business partners, investors, customers, and everyone beyond.
Based on this belief, we are committed to expanding our creation of employment opportunities in local communities, support for sporting and other events, and donations to return the value we generate not only to our stakeholders, but to society at large. We will also consider the global environment and proactively disclose information about the steps we take to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.
We have identified (1) the pursuit of human capital management by treasuring our employees, (2) stable store operation and contribution to the realization of a sustainable society, and (3) compliance with laws and ordinances, and strengthening of governance as priority issues, and will promote specific initiatives for addressing the issues in an effort to achieve sustainability management while fulfilling our corporate social responsibility.
